Earlier, I wrote about a group photoshoot at Hard Rock Punta Cana, and after that session, I did an individual photoshoot for one of the women from this big family. This happens quite often — after a family photoshoot, I photograph part of the family, a couple, the kids, or do an individual photoshoot. By the way, it is quite practical and makes sense in every way 🤓

First, it takes less time because you don’t need to set aside time again the next day, meet with the photographer, plan everything, etc.
Second, it saves money because the photographer doesn’t need to come and leave one more time. This kind of photoshoot can cost 2 times less because it is extra time added to the main photoshoot, not a separate session. And as we all know — there is no reason to spend extra money when you don’t have to 😅

And third, it is mentally easier because during the main photoshoot, people have already gotten used to the camera, relaxed, and are ready for the next round! Below, I’ll leave a button with prices for an individual photoshoot in case you’re interested.
Photoshoot at Hard Rock Punta Cana
I like hotel grounds! They usually have a well-maintained beach, a large hotel property with beautiful landscaping, and people don’t have to deal with the extra hassle of leaving the hotel. On the other hand, there are a lot of people, and not every hotel allows a private photographer to do a photoshoot there. Sometimes, permission can cost hundreds of dollars 🫠

Hard Rock Punta Cana has one of the biggest beaches! There is a large open area with white sand, a small palm grove, and a beautiful open shoreline. From what I’ve seen, there is very little seaweed here. After all, we need a clean beach, right?!

By the way, I wrote a big and detailed article — Sargassum on Bavaro Beach. It has answers to all the questions about sargassum seaweed, and there are even live beach webcams available 24 hours a day! But let’s get back to Hard Rock Punta Cana. The beach here is really beautiful and a great place for a photoshoot in Punta Cana.
The hotel also has a beautiful property, one of the largest among all the hotels in Bavaro. The landscaping here is excellent. There are paths, palm trees, beautiful bridges, and many other great locations for a photoshoot. Basically, you can take a beautiful photo almost anywhere 😍

Photographer at Punta Cana and Bavaro hotels
Hard Rock Punta Cana and other hotels usually have photographers, and you can get more details at the front desk. However, you should know about a few things to watch out for. I have to warn you about this because my mission is to give you honest and real information that will help make your vacation in the Dominican Republic unforgettable. By the way, I should also mention that all the photos in this article were taken by me personally, not by photographers from Hard Rock Punta Cana 😇

So, what should you watch out for? Staff turnover at hotels is high. There are many photographers, and they often leave, new ones come in, and so on. Most of the time, the portfolio they show you was not taken by the photographer who will actually do your photoshoot. Basically, you are buying something without knowing exactly what you will get. However, some hotels have a great system where you only pay for the photos you like. You go with the photographer, take the photos, and then they show them to you on a large screen or laptop. You can buy the photos you like and simply not buy the rest. This is the best option for you if you don’t want to spend extra money or take unnecessary risks.

Other hotels have systems that are not as good for you. You book and pay for the photoshoot, and then, after some time, you receive the photos digitally. Of course, there is no guarantee, and if you don’t like the photos, no one will refund your money. A more reliable option is to hire a private photographer 😉
Photographer in Punta Cana and Bavaro
Private photographers like me have their own websites and social media pages where they share their photos. They have been working for many years and have a lot of experience. They are also fully responsible for the final result and care about their reputation. You can discuss all the details directly with them before the photoshoot. This is what a truly personal approach and good customer service look like!

Photoshoot at the hotel or outside the hotel?!
Both options have their pros and cons. If you choose a photoshoot at the hotel, they look like this.
Pros:
- No need to go anywhere or spend extra time
- The hotel has well-maintained grounds and a beautiful beach
Cons:
- A lot of people may be in the photos
- There may be seaweed
- No guarantee of the final result
If you choose a photoshoot outside the hotel with a private photographer:
Pros:
- Guaranteed result
- Direct communication with the photographer
- Photoshoot on a beach without people
Cons:
- You need to leave the hotel (or pay for a photographer permit)
Now, let’s get back to our individual photoshoot, and I want to share some information about the different types of individual photoshoots you can choose from 🤓
Types of individual photoshoots
It can be a photoshoot for a man or a woman, as well as for a child. You should also understand that there are different photoshoot styles: a more formal one in regular clothes, a less formal one in a swimsuit, and a completely informal one — without clothes, nude.
Classic individual photoshoot
These photos are perfect for your personal collection, work, Instagram, or simply as a profile photo on social media. It’s great when your family and friends look at your profile photo and feel warmth and happiness, and that is exactly the kind of feeling photos taken in the Dominican Republic will give 😍

However, you can share that warmth not only with people close to you, but also with those who may become close to you in the future. For example, guys often use photos from an individual men’s photoshoot on dating sites. After all, you want to show the best version of yourself, the most attractive one! By the way, individual photoshoots for men are one of my favorite types of photography!
Individual photoshoot in a swimsuit
This is a pretty popular type of photoshoot. And it makes sense… the tropics, the ocean, a beautiful swimsuit — why not take some great photos to remember your vacation?! We didn’t take any swimsuit photos during this session, but I’ll show you some examples from other photoshoots 🙃

I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of these photoshoots and I rarely do them. It’s better to plan about 2 hours for this type of photoshoot because you need time to relax mentally, work on poses, and take plenty of photos so you have a good selection to choose from. Very rarely, some people are naturally good at posing, and 30 minutes is enough for them to take a hundred or even two hundred beautiful photos.
But honestly, in my experience, this happens in about 1 out of 25 cases. In the other 24 cases — you need time to work through everything without rushing. Usually, it takes about 30 — 45 minutes before a person starts to feel truly relaxed in front of the camera.
Nude photoshoot
There are several places in Punta Cana and Bavaro where you can do this type of photoshoot. The main feature of these beaches is privacy. These are beaches where there are usually no people, so you can relax and take your time with a nude photoshoot. On the map, I’ll mark several places like this and share what you might call secret beaches in Punta Cana for a more revealing photoshoot.

- The edge of Macao Beach near the Maimon River — maps.app.goo.gl/Mo2GUwxYP3XPsyqd9
- Playa Escondida on the other end of Macao Beach — maps.app.goo.gl/cDWnMCCuZoMszrrt8
- The wild side of Bavaro Beach behind Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana — maps.app.goo.gl/ZP3KvTKPWXN3hSpf9
- Between Bavaro Beach and Cabeza de Toro — Punta Natipablo — maps.app.goo.gl/V4oMuUHKEQNfSLPT6
- Tocon Beach in Cabeza de Toro — maps.app.goo.gl/aQFEisbaPSiCnCAA8
However, I have to admit that I know these places, but I don’t do this type of photoshoot. Why? It’s simple — it’s just not my thing! I prefer working with families and children, couples, and I also love doing individual men’s photoshoots. I rarely do individual women’s photoshoots, and I don’t do nude photoshoots at all. Besides, my wife wouldn’t approve, and I don’t want to upset her ❤️
P.S. Since I have the chance, I want to say hi to my wife, I love you mi cielo hermoso 😘
By the way, there is a great place for a nude photoshoot near Hard Rock Punta Cana! If you walk past Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana toward Macao Beach, you will reach a wild beach. The farther you walk, the fewer people you will see. If you go early in the morning, you can find not only an empty beach but also beautiful sunrise light coming from the ocean.

Is nude photography allowed in the Dominican Republic?
It is important to understand the difference between sexual exhibitionism and an artistic photoshoot with adult models.
According to Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Dominican Republic (Law No. 74-25, as amended), sexual exhibitionism includes sexual acts and the display of sexual organs when they take place in view of other people in a public place or a place open to the public. This violation is punishable by up to one year in prison plus a fine.
At the same time, Article 142 provides an exception for acts in an artistic context intended for adults, as long as they do not violate rights and interests protected by law.
It is important to follow these rules:
- Only adult models may participate
- The photoshoot should take place in a private space that is not open to the public
- The model must voluntarily agree to the photoshoot
- The terms of the photoshoot and the use of the photos should be agreed upon in writing
- Minors are not allowed to be present during the photoshoot
- The laws of the Dominican Republic must be followed, including requirements related to the distribution and publication of the content
Today, this is a sensitive topic, so you need to be careful. But if you follow the law and show reasonable respect for others, there should be no problems. Still, laws can change quickly, and at the time this article was written, I am sharing the current information with you, but things can change quickly.
Frequently asked questions:
How much does an individual photoshoot usually cost in Punta Cana?
It depends on the photographer and the location. If you book a photoshoot with a hotel photographer, it may cost around $100 — 150. Private photographers usually charge from $150 — 200, but if you want to go to more distant beaches, a one-hour photoshoot may cost $250 — 400. If you use private beaches that require a permit, that can add another $50 or more to the cost of the photoshoot, while some beaches charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars for permission.
How to choose a good photographer in Punta Cana and not make a mistake?!
I recommend photographer Alex Po! Contact me and you definitely won’t go wrong 😇 But if we don’t count me, the process of finding a photographer is pretty simple: explore the market and talk to several photographers whose portfolios you like. Read their reviews on Google Maps, find all the places where they have profiles, learn as much information about them as possible, etc. The more time you spend doing your research — the better your chances of making the right choice.
Is it better to take photos at sunrise or sunset?
In my opinion — at sunrise! Why? There are fewer people, the temperature is more comfortable, and the sun shines from the ocean. This makes the photos more beautiful in this part of the Dominican Republic — Punta Cana.
Is it better to choose a hotel photographer or a private photographer?
It depends on the situation and your preferences. If photo quality is not very important to you and you just want some memories from your vacation, a hotel photographer can be a good option. But if you want not only memories but also beautiful, high-quality photos, then a private photographer is the best choice 👍
Can I bring my own private photographer to the hotel?
It all depends on the hotel. At some hotels, you only need to buy a day pass for the photographer, which allows them to stay on the hotel property for half a day and costs around $40 — 100. At other hotels, you need official permission from the hotel for the photoshoot plus a day pass, and this can cost $100 or more. Some hotels only allow photoshoots on their property with hotel photographers.
Will there be a lot of people on the beach during the photoshoot?
It depends on the location and time. If it is early in the morning and not a hotel beach, there are usually no people around. At hotel beaches, there are people even in the morning, although mornings are usually the least crowded 🤓
What if there is a lot of sargassum on the beach on the day of the photoshoot?
Professional photographers use certain shooting techniques to keep sargassum out of the frame. Sargassum can also be removed during photo retouching.
Can I check in advance if there is seaweed on Bavaro Beach?
Yes, but not everywhere. Some locations can be checked using live webcams that work 24 hours a day. By the way, in my article — Sargassum on Bavaro Beach, I shared several of these webcams 😇
What if this is my first photoshoot and I have no idea how to pose?!
For most people in my portfolio, it was their first photoshoot. Don’t worry, I’ll help you with everything, and we’ll take great photos 😉
How long does a beach photoshoot usually last?!
It depends on the package you choose. Usually, it is 30 minutes / 1 hour or 2 hours. Of course, the more time we have, the better the photos will be. Some people only start to relax after 30 — 40 minutes of the photoshoot, so it is better to plan at least 1 hour.
How many days after the photoshoot will we receive the finished photos?
It all depends on the photographer, so be sure to ask about this before booking your photoshoot. Usually, it takes about a week, but some photographers may take months to deliver the photos. I usually deliver the finished edited photos the next day 🚀
Is retouching included in the price?
Yes, retouching is usually included in the price with most photographers, but every photographer means something different by retouching. Some photographers only do color correction and deliver more photos. Others do full retouching, including skin retouching, body adjustments, and removing people / seaweed from photos, but deliver fewer photos. It is better to discuss this before the photoshoot.
Can people, seaweed, and other unwanted objects be removed from the photos?
Of course! However, you should understand that not every photographer includes this in their editing. Also, some photographers don’t know how to do it. Be sure to check the terms before the photoshoot.
